Just moved in or are looking for a quick fix... or just fancy a change? Here are some clever interior design tricks that you can easily do with minimal effort and cost.
1: Paint smaller rooms in softer, lighter colours to help make the room feel larger.
Getting that dreaded paint brush out can often be a daunting task but fear not, painting a small room is never as bad as you think. It's the end result that is always worth it. Lightly coloured walls and ample use of mirrors not only reflect the natural light pouring in from the doors but also the windows.
2:Disguise the old with the new
Don't want to break the bank but really feeling the need for a good spruce up? Why not cover a sofa, lay a rug over that stained carpet, until you can afford to replace it. No one need know. The right throw or rug can add some oomph to any room.
3: Spice up that old book case.
This may sound like a crazy idea but believe me, it looks fabulous. If you have some spare wallpaper lying around, paste it on the inside of bookcases. This works really well on black or white shelves. Or try vintage style wallpaper which will add some life to a block colour bookcase.
4: Change your cushion covers.
Changing your cushions can often be an expensive task but if you already have cushions, why buy even more? Why not just change the covers - a great way to save money and really change the look and feel of any room. Varied colours and patterns can bring warmth and texture into your living space.
5:Bring in the outdoors
Go green, add plants to your living space. You could even add them to every room. Plants are an inexpensive means to accessorising your space and adding colour. Not only are plants beautiful but many can clean the air and balance humidity. They can absorb pollutants and remove harmful gases from the air. No home should be without one.
